Thought for the day – What do you boast about?

The aim of these brief thoughts from the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament is to stimulate you to read the book for yourself and perhaps re-listen to our recent sermon series in the book. The one that includes the verses I have used today was preached on 17th November 2019 by  Graham Nicholls and the link is below.

This is what the Lord says:‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this:    that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,  justice and righteousness on earth,  for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 9 vs. 23 – 24

‘May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world’
Galatians 6 vs. 14

‘I will not boast in anything. No gifts no pow’r no wisdom. But I will boast in Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection’
