Grief then Joy (John 16:17 to 33)
Jesus continues to comfort his disciples that although he is leaving them, he will still be with them and they have everything to look forward to. In this section he assures them that they will be joyful again when they see him after his death and resurrection; they will be joyful when they realise they have a direct relationship with the Father because of the Son, and this will sustain them and give them peace even in great trouble that they will face.
