Acts 2:1 to 41 – Peter answers the great question

In Acts 2 the fact of Jesus Christ being a real person who performed great miracles was undisputed. Also, the fact that Jesus died by being crucified by the Roman soldiers was accepted. Whether he rose from the dead, and what that means was much more of an open question. Peter address the question of the identity of Jesus is in the light of all the events and how we need to respond to him. Hebrews 3:1 to 6 – Jesus the Faithful Son

Posted by on 19th Jun, 2011 in Sermons | Tagged in: | 0 comments

Moses was great. Jesus was greater. Moses was a faithful servant in God’s house, but Jesus makes the house. Just as the designer deserves much more recognition that the thing they designed so Jesus deserves the glory for being the architect of the church. Moses was part of the building (the people of God). Jesus was the maker of the building So, Christians then and now need to fix their thoughts on Jesus. To be courageous and bold and show they are part of the great building that brings Christ honour To listen to Matthew White preaching at the evening Service on Sunday evening 19th...

God – three in one

So far we have looked at these catechism questions: Who made you? God made me What else did God make? God made all things Why did God make you and all things? For His own glory How can I glorify God? By loving him and doing what he commands Why should I glorify God? Because he made me and takes care of me How many gods are there? There is only one God In how many persons does the one God exist and who are they? God exists in three persons They are the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit To listen to Graham Nicholls preaching at the All-Age Service on Sunday morning 19th June 2011 use the...

Thanksgiving Service for New Building

On Sunday morning 12th June 2011 we held a thanksgiving service for our new building. God graciously helped us to get sufficiently complete to have a great time together welcoming many visitors – more than 200 people including friends from other churches and people from the local community. The service was led by Mark Ventham and later in the service Graham Nicholls preached from 1 Peter 2 about who we are as a church (people building their lives on Jesus Christ) and what we do (worship and witness). This is our aim for Christ Church inside and outside our new building. You can listen...

For our thanksgiving service as we moved into our new building we thought about – what is the church and why is it here? 1. Christ’s Church is a spiritual building – people, described as “living stones” built on Jesus Christ. He makes the building possible and he defines the shape of the building. 2. Christ’s church is there for Worship and Witness To listen to Graham Nicholls preaching from 1 Peter 2:4 to 10 on Sunday morning 12th June 2011 use the links below. Hebrews 2:5 to 18 – Jesus redeems humanity

Posted by on 12th Jun, 2011 in Sermons | Tagged in: | 0 comments

Buy one get one free… good. Fat free…good (apart from perhaps the taste) But what are Christians talking about when they talk about being set free? Freedom from what? How are we not free? The writer of Hebrews continues in his flow, focussing his readers attention on the deity of Jesus Christ, to talk about the astonishing reality of the complete humanity of Christ! We can see, as the writer transitions from the highest of heights of the glory of the eternal Son, to the humility as he became fully human, to set us free from the fear of death. We see the incredible association...
